On the Job: Ceramics Studios and Coffee Shops in the PNW

Hannah Field glazes a piece of hand painted pottery at Surefire Ceramics on October 21. She has been working at the pottery painting studio since May of 2022 and absolutely loves her job. Hannah describes her experience working at the charming downtown Albany shop as "interesting" and "exciting". She works closely with those who come into the business and helps ensure the "paint your own pottery" studio is clean and well stocked while also maintaining a relaxing and welcoming environment. Hannah graduated from West Albany High School in 2022 and is now majoring in film.

Carol Priest stands behind the register at Coffee Culture in Corvallis on October 22. As a barista at Coffee Culture’s busiest location, located on Kings Blvd, Carol is almost never stationary when on the job. Since taking the position of barista at the coffee shop over a year ago, she has grown to love the fast paced and teamwork centered environment that the location requires. "I love my job! Even the difficult customers are worth dealing with for this job." She is a second year student at OSU and is majoring in nursing.
