Albany Oregon: The Downtown Gems of November

The Albany Historic Carousel Located in downtown Albany on November 10. The beautifully handcrafted carousel stands in a large ornate building on 1st street in Albany and is one of the main attractions of the city. The animals and horses proper are all hand made from various woods and meticulously hand painted on site. Throughout the year, the nonprofit business hosts many activities and events for and with the community. The next event the carousel is hosting is a Nutcracker meet and greet with Legacy Ballet on November 20 for children ages 3-6. At its core, the carousel is a work of art made by the community and for the community with its many donations from citizens of Albany. The historic carousel is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11-4pm.
The annual Veterans day Parade in Albany on November 11. The parade, after being cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic for two years, is back in full swing on the national holiday. With over 100 floats, countless businesses, and even Santa Claus making an appearance, the parade is one of the most exciting events of the year for the Albany community. Pictured above, is a tank from the local military armory from Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, Cavalry, known affectionately as "Tip of the Spear". The Parade lasts from 11am to 1pm, travels through downtown Albany, and is next scheduled for Veterans day, 2023.

Kaia Chang stands at the register at The Pix Theater in Downtown Albany on November 12. The antique theater stands as one of the busiest and most successful movie theaters in the Albany area and for good reason! With good food, comfortable seating, and impeccable decor, the theater is a hot spot for the community. Kaia has been working at The Pix for almost 6 months and while the job has its ups and downs, they love the atmosphere of the theater: busy, entertaining, and fulfilling. Kaia's favorite movie that they have seen at the downtown theater while working there is "Spiderman: No Way Home". They will be graduating high school in the class of 2023 and hope to pursue college in the near future.
